After a thorough review of 57 applicants, four candidates have been selected as finalists in the search for Redford Township’s new Township Superintendent. Public interviews and a Community Reception will be held on Friday, August 23rd at the Redford Community Center, 12121 Hemingway, Redford Charter Twp, MI 48239. Public interviews will be held from 12:30pm - 4:20pm, followed by a Community Reception from 5:00pm - 7:00pm in the gym of the Redford Community Center. The Community Reception will give residents the opportunity to mingle wih the candidates and hear short, prepared remarks. Community members are encouraged to attend, meet the candidates and complete anonymous feedback forms which will be shared with the Charter Township of Redford’s Board of Trustees.
Candidate Bios and Background
Jeffrey Bowdell has worked as a Municipal Department Head for over thirty years, including thirteen years with Redford Township as Building Superintendent. He has served at the will of the municipal elected body in five communities in both Wayne and Oakland counties. Mr. Bowdell has worked with Federal, State and County government officials to build relationships and solve local governmental issues throughout his career.
Bowdell’s educational background includes business curriculum at Wayne State University and Henry Ford Community College. He is also a licensed Residential Builder and a registered Code Official with the State of Michigan.
Warren Brown has been employed by the Board of County Commissioners in Huron County, Ohio for the past four years. Prior to that, he held positions in the criminal justice sector as a countywide elected official, and in the top-tier of county government administration.
Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Asbury College. In his current capacity as the Huron County Director of Human Resources/Loss Prevention and Revenue Enhancement, he serves as a district director for the County Loss Control Coordinators Association of Ohio.
Darwin McClary is the Founder, President, and CEO of MuniciPRO LLC, a Michigan company specializing in municipal management consulting. Prior to starting his own firm, McClary spent almost thirty years managing several cities and villages in Michigan, most recently as City Manager for the City of Ypsilanti. His management responsibilities spanned almost every area of municipal services.
McClary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in human services with a concentration in public administration from Siena Heights College and an Executive Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Michigan Municipal Executives (MME), and Michigan Public Employer Labor Relations Association (MPELRA).
Darchelle Strickland Love
Darchelle Strickland Love served as the Deputy City Manager for the City of Berkley where she developed and implemented a community engagement strategy and information campaign for ballot proposals to fund road improvements and a new community center. Prior to her appointment in Berkley, she served as Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Chief of Staff and Group Executive for three Detroit mayors respectively.
Strickland Love is a graduate of the University of Detroit and a member of the Society of Human Resource Management.
Interviews will be 50 minutes long and each candidate will have a panel interview with Township staff, a panel interview with community leaders, and a panel interview with the Board of Trustees of the Charter Township of Redford. All interviews will take place at the Redford Community Center, 12121 Hemingway, Redford Charter Twp, MI 48239.
